The Ontario Shipbuilding Grant Program, administered by the Ontario Ministry of Transportation, funds up to 50% of total eligible expenditures, to a maximum of $7 million per project, for projects completed within up to three fiscal years. Applicants must be incorporated for-profit businesses established under the laws of Canada or Ontario, or Indigenous Businesses, located and operating in Ontario, with at least one-third of annual revenue from shipbuilding or the shipbuilding supply chain in at least one of the last three fiscal years. Recipients contribute a minimum of 25% of eligible expenditures from their own funds. Funding is paid as reimbursement of costs already incurred and paid, in quarterly or semi-annual instalments, each with a 10% holdback released after project completion. Total funding from all provincial sources cannot exceed 50% of eligible expenditures. Only one application per applicant is accepted, through Transfer Payment Ontario, by November 19, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. Eastern time.

Check the one-third shipbuilding or supply chain revenue test for at least one of the last three fiscal years, your legal form, and that the project is not related to recreational or tourism watercraft.
Create a TPON account, generate a Tax Compliance Verification (TCV) number, and collect three years of audited or review engagement financial statements, articles of incorporation or letters patent, and partner letters of support.
Map the project to at least one program objective, build the budget from eligible cost categories only, and confirm your minimum 25% contribution and reimbursement cash flow.
Complete the work plan, risks and mitigation, performance measures, budget and impact sections and submit before November 19, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. Eastern time.
